General Objectives & Approach
This programme has three objectives :
- Review essential and advanced project management concepts to learn how to manage a project
- Develop interpersonal skills as a project manager
- Support your preparation for the certification exam through a variety of teaching tools and a structured learning strategy
A comprehensive, progressive and certifying approach
This programme is built on active, modular and practice-oriented teaching. It enables you to master the fundamentals, explore modern approaches (agility, leadership, change) and prepare for an international certification focused on the personal competences of a project manager.
Program
Onboarding
A 2.5-hour online onboarding session to:
- Encourage exchanges between participants
- Identify individual expectations and previous experience
- Clarify the training objectives
- Get familiar with the tools and resources provided
Self-paced e-learning
Teaches the fundamentals of project management, focusing on the personal competences of the project manager as defined in ICB4, the IPMA standard.
- Modules 1 and 2 : Introduction. Helps you get started with the e-learning platform and introduces the ICB4 standard
- Module 3 : The project environment (2.5 h). Explains how the context (strategy, governance, standards, power, culture) shapes a project
- Module 4 : Starting the project (2.5 h). Covers the path from idea to a well-defined project: business case, objectives, charter, stakeholders
- Modules 5–7 : Planning (4.5 h). Covers requirements and scope (what the project must deliver), schedule and resources (when and with whom), and quality, risks and communication (how to secure the plan)
- Module 8 : Succeeding by working with others (3 h). Covers leadership, the project team, relationships, conflict and negotiation
- Module 9 : Monitoring and closing a project (2.5 h). Covers project control, variances, closure and lessons learned
- Module 10 : Exam preparation (1 h). Offers a cross-cutting review of the three competence areas and tips for passing the exam
- 3 mock exams : Let you practise in conditions similar to the certification exam
In-person modules
During 4 days and in groups, the in-person modules go deeper and apply the content to case studies and real projects.
Module A – Scoping, aligning, engaging
- Scoping a project (strategy, objectives, charter)
- Stakeholder mapping and engagement
- Supporting change
Module B – Planning and managing resources
- Building a WBS, scheduling and the critical path
- Budget trade-offs and resource management
- Risk analysis and defining quality criteria
Module C – Agility, leadership and teamwork
- Scrum simulation
- Assessment of your leadership style
- Work on team dynamics
- Role play on an interpersonal skill (conflict, feedback or negotiation)
Module D – Monitoring and closing a project
Workshops on progress tracking, monitoring and reporting (indicators, variances, corrective actions) and the project closure review.
Preparation for IPMA-D certification
Remote support over three half-days, including :
- Methodological advice
- Mock exams corrected in pairs
- Group debriefings and personalized feedback

Practical information
- Class size : The number of participants per group is limited to 18 people for optimal learning
- Location : The in-person training will be held in Geneva, at 38 Rue de Montbrillant, close to Cornavin train station. A map will be provided before the training begins
- Schedule : In-person training days take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m
- Remote support : Certification preparation workshops are held on Zoom. The access code is sent by email in due course
- Language : Sessions are held in French
Prerequisites
- Experience: Project management experience as a project manager or project coordinator is required
- Proficiency with digital tools : Comfortable with standard digital tools; personal computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection
- Personal motivation : Between 60 and 80 hours of personal work will be required in addition to the training
- Availability : Attendance above 80% across the whole programme (e-learning and in person) and completion of all e-learning tests
- Language : Minimum C1 level in French, C2 recommended
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently on the online programme and the certification preparation
