General Objectives & Approach
This service has three objectives:
- Review essential and advanced project management concepts to learn how to manage a project.
- Develop interpersonal skills as a project manager.
- Use a variety of teaching tools and a structured learning strategy to support preparation for the chosen certification exam.
A comprehensive, progressive, and certification-oriented approach
This training program is based on active, modular, and practice-oriented teaching methods. It allows you to master the basics, discover modern approaches (agility, leadership, change), and then choose and prepare for the international certification that best suits your profile and future career plans.
Program
A half-day in-person session to:
- Encourage discussion among participants
- Identify individual expectations and prior experience
- Clarify the training objectives
- Familiarize participants with the tools and resources available
This first 3-day classroom-based module covers the core operational content.
You will learn how to:
- Lay the foundations for a project: life cycle, terminology, organization, key roles, risks, scope
- Use practical tools to plan the project: WBS, project approach, estimation techniques, sequencing tools, etc.
- Develop essential documents such as the project charter and project plan
- Monitor the project and control performance
- Manage project closure in a structured manner
NB: At the end of this module, you will choose the certification you wish to pursue: IPMA-D, CAPM®, or PMP®
This two-and-a-half-day in-person module allows you to explore the cross-functional skills expected of modern project managers:
- Agile approaches and the Scrum method
- Negotiation techniques
- Team management
- Change management and facilitating collaboration within the project team and beyond
Remote support over four half-days, including:
- Methodological advice
- Mock exams corrected in pairs
- Group debriefings and personalized feedback
An intensive distance learning program (3 half-days + 1 full day) including:
- Review of the exam registration process
- Preparation of an individual study strategy
- Introduction to PMI standards and review of key areas
- Exam simulations under real conditions
- Group debriefing and in-depth exploration of complex topics
Practical information
- Class size: The number of participants per group is limited to 22 people for optimal learning.
- Location: The in-person training will be held in Geneva, at 38 Rue de Montbrillant, close to Cornavin train station. A map will be provided before the training begins.
- Schedule: In-person training days take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Remote support: workshops are organized via Zoom. The access code will be sent by email in due course.
- Language: Sessions are offered in French or English. The entire session is conducted in the designated language, both for the training portion and the online workshops.
Prerequisites
- Experience: experience in project management as a project manager or coordinator of projects. In addition, theProject Management Institute (PMI) imposes specific eligibility criteria for the PMP® exam. See www.pmi.org for detailed conditions.
- Proficiency in office software: Proficiency with standard digital tools, personal computer with camera and good internet connection
- Personal motivation: between 80 and 160 hours of personal work will be required in addition to the training.
- Availability: attendance above 80% and completion of all e-learning tests
- Language: Minimum C1 level in French or English
- Autonomy for certification preparation
- PMP® eligibility (if applicable)
